Endometriosis

Yes, it has been a while since I last posted...

I've been suffering from severe pains for many years now. Finally, doctors decided it was time to perform an exploratory surgery. During this surgery I was actually diagnosed with a severe case of endometriosis. I had heard a little about this disease before, how uterine tissue begins to grow all over the reproductive parts like a cancer, but I didn't know all the facts.

I didn't realize that it is the leading cause of infertility, or that it usually takes an average of nine years of living with the crippling pain it presents before a woman is finally diagnosed. I was lucky, it only took six years in my case. Even so, there is no definitive cure to endometriosis, I am currently in remission and will hopefully remain in remission for the rest of my life.

Women with endometriosis are often misunderstood since there is so much ignorance about this disease, if I can help at least one person understand this disease better it would mean ever so much to me.

Belated Sparkles and Sweets

Some of my family members decided to go abroad for the Christmas holidays and just recently got back. As a result I got a few belated Christmas presents this year. Including this gorgeous glass pendant necklace:

Not to mention quite a few bags of candy...

Yep, I think my family knows about my humongous sweet tooth :D

A Love Story

Once upon a time, a boy and a girl became best friends. They talked about everything under the sun until there were no secrets left between them.

Well, maybe just one secret.

One day, he jerked his head up off his desk, turned to her, and in a moment of sudden curiosity asked the deadly question.

"What's your reason for living?"

She, who had always felt so small and insignificant compared to him, could only stare in surprise as the word 'you' appeared in her mind over and over again.

She licked her lips as she readied herself to say the word, but it only took one gaze into those intense tawny eyes to make her falter. She tore her eyes away as her tongue stumbled over the lie.

"I don't know."

Years and years later she would realize how silly she had been in her youth. Not for having lied, but for having thought he was her only reason for living.

I've done it.
I've survived another year, a whole five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes. There's been laughter and tears, success and disappointment. I learned a lot about myself in the past year.

• Learned how to tell when it's time to let go.
• Found out how to love all over again.
• Learned who my real friends were.
• Realized I was happy living as a Fruit Loop in a world full of Cheerios.

It's been an enlightening, if sometimes painful and strange, experience and I'm pretty sure this new year is going to be the same.
